FoodCorps recruitment begins

The national FoodCorps program is accepting applications for the 2017-18 school year. Service member positions are available on Hawaii Island and Oahu, as well as in communities in 16 states in the continental U.S. and the District of Columbia.

FoodCorps connects children in limited-resource communities to healthy food in schools. Selected service members dedicate one year of full-time, paid public service in school food systems, teaching hands-on lessons in growing, cooking, and tasting food; collaborating with food service staff to steer students toward the healthiest options in the cafeteria; and working alongside school administrators and teachers to foster a school-wide culture of health.

FoodCorps provides valuable skills and training to service members who go through the program, setting them up for careers in school food, public health, and education. Benefits of AmeriCorps service include an $18,250 stipend, health care, training, and a $5,815 education award.

Info and applications: foodcorps.org/apply. The deadline to apply is March 15.

Judiciary makes more court documents available online

The Hawaii State Judiciary is making more court documents available for online viewing. Circuit and family court criminal case documents filed on Jan. 23 and thereafter will be available for download and purchase online through eCourt Kokua. This will supplement the current traffic, district court criminal, and appellate cases presently available on eCourt Kokua. Civil case information will continue to be available through Hoohiki.

There will be a temporary disruption of service of the information typically available on Hoohiki in circuit and family court criminal cases. New filings or updates to circuit and family court criminal cases between Jan. 18-20 may not be posted on Hoohiki. However, the court record will still be available in paper form at each courthouse.
